Which calculator should I use?
- I want to know what percent one number is of another, such as 30 of 150. Percentage Calculator →

How these calculators work
Both tools rest on one idea: a percentage is a part divided by a whole, multiplied by 100. The Percentage Calculator takes the part and the whole as two plain numbers. The Fraction to Percentage tool takes the same two numbers as a numerator and a denominator. The steps are shown under every result.
COMMON QUESTIONS
How do I find what percent one number is of another?
Divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100. For 30 out of 150, 30 ÷ 150 = 0.2, and 0.2 × 100 = 20%.
How do I convert a fraction to a percentage by hand?
Divide the numerator by the denominator and multiply by 100. For 3/4, 3 ÷ 4 = 0.75, and 0.75 × 100 = 75%.
What if the result is more than 100%?
That simply means the part is larger than the whole. For example 5/2 is 250%, and 150 out of 100 is 150%.
How do I convert a mixed number like 2 1/2?
Turn it into an improper fraction first: 2 1/2 is 5/2. Enter 5 and 2, and the result is 250%.
Can the total or the denominator be zero?
No. Dividing by zero has no defined answer, so the calculators wait for a number that is not zero before showing a result.
Why does 1/3 show as 33.33% and not exactly 33⅓%?
One third is a repeating decimal (0.3333…), so the result has to be rounded to a set number of decimal places.
What is the difference between the two calculators?
They use the same maths. The Percentage Calculator is framed as "what percent is this value of that total", and Fraction to Percentage is framed as a numerator over a denominator. Use whichever matches the numbers you have.
What is the difference between a percentage and a percentage point?
A percentage point is the plain difference between two percentages. Going from 10% to 12% is a rise of 2 percentage points, but it is a 20% increase relative to the starting 10%.
